Byblis rorida

Byblis rorida
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to obtain some Byblis rorida seeds from the ICPS seedbank. I'd never grown any species of Byblis other than liniflora and figured this would be a good chance to branch out. Boy, was it!

After obtaining the seed, I decided to pot it on top of a standard carnivorous plant mix (1:1 peat:perlite) in a clay pot. After reading up about B. rorida germination online, I decided the easiest and cheapest method would be to light some paper on fire on top of the pot and cap it with a glass. Obviously, this was done outside. (And, frankly, I probably should have taken pictures).

After a couple weeks, I've seen my first sprout (above). I'm hopeful both that this guy makes it to the seeding stage, and I get another plant so I can cross pollinate them (which, apparently, is necessary for seed production). Even if I don't get two plants, I'd still be happy with the chance to grow this one for as long as I can (and next time, I'll take pictures of the fire).
