| Snow! |
Let it snow! Let it snow! The one big advantage of living where I live is that it snows, frequently. The good thing about snow is that it provides an easy source of water that is good for the plants. (It is sometimes hard to keep up with water demands in summer due to the difficulty of collecting water. Not an issue in winter, when snow fills the landscape).

| Melting snow |
Unfortunately, snow is not quite as dense as water. In fact, all that snow, packed into that 6-quart Dutch oven above, will melt down to 1/6, resulting in between a third and half-a-gallon of water. Due to how little water snow translates into and how little water melting space I have, it is necessary to speed up the melting process via the stove top.
