The Rains of New Hampshire

Well guys, it's been a wet summer. Last year, the U.S. Drought Monitor had the bottom, east corner of our state in deep red, "extreme drought" conditions. Now, everything is all caught up! That sounds great, but remember, that doesn't mean we've had 100% of normal precipitation, we've had 100% + the percentage necessary to erase the drought. That's a lot of water.

Pond in the White Mountains
To put that in perspective, the rocks in the water in this pond in the White Mountains? They were 2 - 3 feet above water in the fall. That made this pond passable. Now, they're about a foot under water. As a consequence, it's not really possible to get to the other side (where the cool plants are!). That's the same everywhere. It's rained so much that it's hard to access carnivore spots, sometimes even with a boat.
