Darlingtonia Coming to Life!

Darlingtonia californica
My Sarrs aren't the only outdoor plants coming to life now that summer is in full-swing. My Cobra Lilies are also starting to rear their heads. I did end up losing a couple over winter due to the extreme cold, but most of the plants made it through and have put up their first crop of pitchers for the season.

Although these plants are not displaying a whole lot of red coloration at the moment, they are not the anthocyanin-free variant of Darlingtonia. They'll color up a bit more later in the summer, once they've had a good bit of sun.

I'm lucky that I can grow my Darlingtonia outside. The average high here is 75 degrees Fahrenheit and the average low is 50 degrees Fahrenheit. If you aren't so lucky but you want to try growing Darlingtonia I have some advice elsewhere on this blog as well as in my book about Darlingtonia.
