I mentioned last summer
how I set up my Aldrovanda vesiculosa tank, but I never did a real follow-up after I moved. I did mention that I the tank, which had been placed outside after the move,
had shattered in December, but I didn't really discuss it again. As it turned out, I lost all my aquatics over winter, probably due to the shattering, and had to start again this year with some fresh stock.

This Aldrovanda has been growing outside for about two months now. Previously, I had it in a large plastic container that I had placed what was left of my aquatic collection in. As it turned out, that just filled with algae, so I moved the plants to this smaller glass container about three weeks ago, where they've been happily growing ever since.

Although I'm very pleased with the plant's growth in summer, I do wonder if it (or its container) will survive the winter. Although I'm tempted to try it, I am trying to cut back on my collection and the outdoor tank which attracts mosquito larvae seems like a good target. (Or, at least, it does to the summer BBQ guests).

One last shot to show the whorl of traps on the plant. It's quite a spectacular carnivore, even if it does love mosquito infested water. I guess everything has got to eat, however. :)
