Updates from the Highland Room

Nepenthes (lowii x veitchii) x (boschiana x campanulata)
When I decided to buy a couple very complex Exotica Plants hybrids back in the summer, I was concerned about how they would turn out. I'm not so worried anymore. In fact, the complexity of the Exotica Plants hybrids has, seemingly, worked to the benefit of the plants, which are pitchering beautifully.

Nepenthes veitchii 'Pink'
The pure species aren't suffering any more, either. This Nepenthes veitchii 'Pink' is really starting to color up. For a long while, the pitchers were lackluster, green, immature, and unremarkable. Now, the peristome is getting some striping and the pitcher body itself is starting to color up.

Nepenthes dubia x ventricosa
Ah, this Nepenthes dubia x ventricosa was the prize of my purchases at the NECPS Fall Show. Although the pitchers are young(ish), they're starting to get the remarkable color that made them so fantastic at the show. I'm excitedly waiting for them to mature to be bright yellow with bright red peristomes.

Nepenthes veitchii
My regular veitchii is also doing well! It has been growing nice, large pitchers on the end of large, broad leaves. I'm happy that it is doing so well, but, as with my other plants, I am impatient for it to grow more (even though I don't have all that much room).

Nepenthes robcantelyi
Lastly, the Nepenthes robcantelyi. One of my easiest Nepenthes to grow, it gets magnificently colored pitchers, even at an immature stage. As with many of my plants, it suffered quite handily this summer, and I'm happy that it is making a great comeback!
