| Sarracenia flava var. rugelii |
A couple years ago, the
United States Botanical Garden had a big display on carnivorous plants, but I didn't think to take many pictures. I only took a few, of some Sarracenia flava growing in the permanent display. The plants looked very healthy and it was good to see some carnivores in one of the most prominent botanical gardens in the world. (For those of you who don't know, it's located a couple hundred yards from the steps of the Capitol and one of the most visited botanical gardens in the world).

I was really impressed with how good their plants looked. Then again, at that point, I hadn't seen much in the way of carnivorous plants for some time, so it was good to be able to see them again.

| S. flava, pollinated flower |
What was even better was to see that the S. flava had been in bloom, and was quickly developing some seeds, something I am still hoping for for my Sarrs this year. Considering how cold winter has been, however, and their less than ideal treatment, I'm not holding out for much in the way of flowers.
