Sarrs in Summer

Summer! The time for Sarrs to shine. Mine had a very rough winter. I think I lost about a third of my larger plants and half the seedlings. Some were lost due to the extreme cold. Others seem to have died since spring growth began. I'm not sure of the cause, but anyhow...some plants are doing remarkably well.

I've been thrilled to see a pronounced recovery in the plants that made it through winter. This coming winter (and winter is always coming here), I'm planning on investing in a mini-fridge and I will attempt to overwinter all my plants in that instead of last year's attempts. My hope is that such action will prevent further losses.

Sarracenia 'Love Bug'
I did have a few flowers this year, but I doubt that I'll get any seed. Frankly, I'd just be happy with a plethora of happy plants. We'll worry about seed next year. As it is, it looks like we're headed into the hottest part of summer with some great growth, so expect to see more photos soon.
