Nepenthes kongkandana formally described, finally!

My Nepenthes kongkandana
I never realized that Nepenthes kongkandana had never been formally described, despite being in (relatively) widespread cultivation for years. Last month, however, the the Italian Carnivorous Plant Society (Associazione Italiana Piante Carnivore (AIPC)) published a formal description of the species (.pdf warning).

Much of the discussion is in Italian, making in largely inaccessible to me except through Google Translate, but the introduction and last page are in English. The pictures in the article more closely align with how my plant's pitchers ordinarily look. The one above is slightly deformed at the pitcher opening, making it look less like a N. kongkandana and more like other Indochinese species.

I've found this species to be an easy, fast grower, and I'm hopeful that it will put off several more basals in the next few years. It currently has two, and had a third, but, like many lowlanders with smaller pitchers, it looks best when fully filled out.
