About a year ago, I made
a post about growing Nepenthes campanulata. In it, I postulated that limestone would be very helpful to add to the growing media. After I obtained my N. campanulata, I was able to make contact with someone living in a limestone rich area and obtain some limestone, which I added to my campy's media.

As you can see, my plant is quite happy! (Well, minus a little cold burn that was the unfortunate effect of the heat going off earlier in spring). It has a total of three pitchers right now, and has steadily produced a pitcher on each leaf. (I don't anticipate a pitcher on the newest leaf, which will have a bit of damage).

So far, I've found this an easy lowland species. It prefers a little less water than some others, but not remarkably less. It also really seems to have taken off once the limestone was introduced into its media. (I regularly forget to fertilize my lowland plants, so I don't think fertilizing has had any real effect on this plant's growth).
Really well grown plant! How tall are the pitchers?
ReplyDeleteThey are about 1.5 - 2 inches. So, they're really not that large, but this species doesn't get very large pitchers.
Deletedo they need the same high humidity as others?
